Retención durante el tratamiento temprano.
Resumen
En la presente revisión se describen algunos aparatos utilizados durante el tratamiento temprano en niños, y se analiza la fase de retención como un paso importante en el mantenimiento de los esfuerzos y resultados obtenidos durante el tratamiento activo. La retención y fijación son consideradas los principales “pilares” en múltiples disciplinas de la odontología no sólo en ortodoncia. Los tratamientos ortodóncicos interceptivos a menudo consisten en una serie de acciones, pasos y etapas encaminados a resolver problemas de desarrollo dental, esqueléticos o musculares, de los pacientes en crecimiento; reduciendo la necesidad de realizar un tratamiento ortodóncico complejo que puede incluir exodoncias de dientes permanentes o cirugía ortognática.
