Enfoque multidisciplinario del manejo del trastorno por atracón y la Diabetes Mellitus Tipo
Resumen
El trastorno por atracón y la diabetes mellitus tipo 2 representan una intersección crítica en la salud pública, donde la coexistencia de ambas condiciones no solo complica el manejo de la diabetes, sino que también incrementa el riesgo de complicaciones. La identificación de factores de riesgo comunes y el impacto del trastorno alimentario en el manejo de la diabetes son esenciales para desarrollar intervenciones efectivas. Dado el creciente número de casos de diabetes, resulta urgente integrar el tratamiento de los trastornos de la conducta alimentaria en los planes de manejo de la diabetes, adoptando un enfoque holístico que considere tanto los aspectos físicos como psicológicos. El trastorno por atracón está caracterizado por episodios recurrentes de consumo excesivo de alimentos, sin conductas compensatorias. El trastorno se asocia con un alto grado de comorbilidad, especialmente con la obesidad y enfermedades como hipertensión y diabetes. La prevalencia del trastorno por atracón es notablemente mayor en pacientes con obesidad mórbida y diabetes tipo 2. Un enfoque multidisciplinario, que incluya endocrinólogos, psiquiatras y nutricionistas, es fundamental para optimizar los tratamientos y mejorar la calidad de vida de estos pacientes. Se requieren más investigaciones para abordar esta compleja comorbilidad y mejorar las intervenciones terapéuticas disponibles. El objetivo de esta revisión fue establecer el enfoque multidisciplinario del manejo del trastorno por atracón y la diabetes tipo 2.
